The Rockin’ Appalachian Mom Project is an organization committed to providing physical, financial and emotional support for the children and families of the Appalachian Mountain area of the United States.  We are Moms ourselves working to help other Moms make a difference in their own children’s lives - community-to-community, family-to-family, Mom-to-Mom, and kid-to-kid.

R.A.M.P. is headed back to Kentucky in mid-February!

Immediate need for funds to help R.A.M.P. fund the following programs:

  • Schools in Martin County, Kentucky have an immediate need for “Backpack Snack” funds to purchase and send home a healthy meal with children in their backpacks on Fridays so the kids have something to eat on the weekend.  Many children in Martin County only eat meals at school.  When they are home over the weekend, their families often cannot afford to buy food, so the schools try to send food home with the kids.

  • Homecoming Church Food Pantry – R.A.M.P. is working with the Homecoming Church, up in a “hollow” of the hills of Martin County, to help them sustain their food pantry with healthy food.  The food pantry serves more than 150 families that live in the remote mountain area.  The food pantry costs approximately $25,000 per year to stock with healthy food.  R.A.M.P. is also working with a farmer to provide fresh fruit and vegetables to the food pantry and work with the members of the Homecoming Church to build a community garden.

How We Got Started

It was a news story on ABC's 20/20 that caught the attention of Amy Guerrieri, founder and CEO of Rockin' Water™.  While watching the segment on the "Hidden America," she felt an immediate call to action and she knew she had to get invloved.

In less than 3 weeks Amy rallied her community and collected 11 pallets of donated goods to bring down to the people of Kentucky she had seen on television.

By partnering with CAP, a non-profit on the ground in Appalachia, Amy was able to quickly and effectively reach more than 800 children and their families in a very short time and provide the families in Martin County, Kentucky with nutritional information, donated bottles of

Rockin’ Water, and much needed personal items for their families.

All of the pieces of the Rockin' Appalachian Mom Project fell into place - in a surreal manner - which Amy believes solidified that this was meant to be.  After her first trip to Kentucky, Amy said, "I firmly believe that if one community were to partner with another Appalachian community in need, such as my community did, that the problems of poverty, malnutrition, education, job training, and more could be tackled and a measurable difference made."  Amy wants to make a difference one family at a time - and R.A.M.P. was born.

Need some ideas on how to help?

R.A.M.P. is currently in need of financial support to help fund its programs.  Here's how you can help!

Have your school host a fundraising effort to raise money for the "Backpack Snack" program -- through a bake sale, pajama day, hat day, "hands for help" day, walk-a-thon, jump-a-thon, and many more great ideas!  Donate proceeds from activities to R.A.M.P. - the ideas are endless - get your kids involved to come up with some great, easy ideas!!

Host a cocktail party, luncheon, dinner, wine tasting, etc., where each person donates a certain amount to R.A.M.P.

Investigate any grants your company might offer to organizations working to allieviate poverty and nominate R.A.M.P.!  Need info?  Just contact us.
